November OT Activity Ideas

Activities for November? That are approved by an OT? Look no further!

I've curated a short list of activities to do at home to keep your kiddos busy when they get restless this holiday season.

Fine Motor Activities

thanksgiving activities for kids turkey baster relay 2Turkey Baster Race with Feathers (or pompoms): This creative game is great for working on hand strengthening, sportsmanship, and communication. This is a very straight-forward, and super simple fine motor craft made by yours truly! It's a basic color, cut, and paste activity with a Thanksgiving twist. Leaf Cutting: Literally taking leaves and snipping them until you can't snip any more! (Beware, you may find lots of "confetti" around afterwards).

Gross Motor Activities

Animal Walks: Been spending a little too much time on the couch? Get a movement break in with this printable resource.Indoor Leaf Sweeping: Great for working on coordination, upper body strengthening, and visual-motor skills. Got carpet? Use a toy rake instead!

Sensory Activity

Apple Cider Sensory Bin: Get some dried apple slices and cinnamon sticks and sprinkle them in a bin of oats for a cozy, fall-scented, taste-safe sensory bin.

Executive Function Activity

Recipes: A great activity to work on following directions and sequencing. Add some scoopers, tongs, and cups to the sensory bin. Then, create recipes with the number of scoops of oats, amount of apple slices and cinnamon sticks to include. Add them to a cup to make "apple cider".

Self-regulation Activity
